At Ho’omalie Psychiatry the appointment time will be as follows:

Adult Patient: The initial appointment will be a 60-minute psychiatric assessment catered to your unique condition.

Child or Adolescent Patient: The initial appointment will be a 60-minute appointment, and time will be spent with the patient alone followed by time with the parent or guardian.

I will introduce myself and ask questions about your symptoms so we can get to know each other. It is important to remember while talking with me that it is a safe space, and everything discussed will stay between the two of us. I will have already reviewed all your patient forms and any previous medical records if they have been provided. We will discuss your needs and what you hope to get out of receiving psychiatric help. If medications are indicated, I will prescribe the appropriate medications, discuss any side effects and answer any questions you may have.

Depending on the diagnosis, I may suggest a follow-up visit where I can provide medication management alone or add psychotherapy together with the medication management appointment to get the most out of our therapeutic sessions.

Typically, a medication management appointment is a 25-minute session. During this appointment I will review your prescribed medication and make sure it is working efficiently and that you are getting the desired outcome.

Medication management and psychotherapy combined appointments are either 30 or 45-minute sessions. If indicated, they can be longer in length, and the time frames will be discussed with the patient as the outcome of all treatment is geared to enhance the emotional, mental and physical well-being of each patient.
